Mustard Seed School
Criterion Ventures worked with the board of the Mustard Seed School, an independent K-8 school in Hoboken, NJ serving urban students, to clarify plans to more effectively serve the urban poor.
Mustard Seed has an intentional mission that compels them as a community to seek to serve through action, advocacy, education, giving, and compassion. They also seek to stimulate and broaden the experiences of city children, and to educate students in an intercultural, interdenominational Christian setting. The Head of School at Mustard Seed was an early advocate for the need for the Van Lunen Fellow's program.
Through an intentional process Criterion helped establish a clear decision making process for plans to be put forth to the school's advisory council. We lead the board in analyzing and discussed various scenarios, as well in incorporating reflections from the faculty in the decision making process. The work resulted in an aligned set of strategies and a plan which Mustard Seed is implementing.
