Overview of LCA
In April 2005 Lexington Christian Academy (LCA), one of the most distinguished Christian college preparatory schools in New England, was seeking a visionary leader who can give voice and direction to the school’s drive to integrate faith and learning. Criterion Ventures came in to manage their search process, offering network access, direction and coordination to help deliver high quality candidates for the Head of School position.
Founded in 1946 and located on a 29-acre campus, LCA was at this time engaged in a $10 million capital campaign for construction, endowment and operations. The LCA community includes 350 middle and upper school students who come from over 80 communities and over 150 different churches. Over 25% are ethnic minorities. The Academy required a leader with exceptional management skills who could operate as a "CEO of sorts" managing both internally and externally.
It proved challenging to identify candidates with a deep understanding of Christian Education and a solid management skill set. The search process extended for two years and provided the seed idea for the for the Van Lunen Center's mission to the management skills of Head's of Christian Schools.
