The Women's Funding Network
The experience and connections of Criterion, the Women's Funding Network (WFN) and its 110 member funds joined with the Good Deed Foundation (GDF), a group of entrepreneurs with extensive experience in the food industry to create a sustainable funding stream for women led solutions to poverty and efforts to combat climate change.
Criterion led constituency marketing, inviting diverse groups (including those representing labor, environment, religion and women) to join a nation-wide cell phone recycling campaign. 11 million cell phones are upgraded each month in the United States alone, and only one million are recycled. By engaging people in this one simple act—recycling old cell phones—Women's Funding Network sought to create lasting solutions for women and families in poverty and help combat climate change.
The money raised:
- Supports programs that lift women and families out of poverty;
- Helps provide lasting solutions to climate change, a major contributor to poverty worldwide; and
- Provides 911 emergency phones for senior citizens and people at risk.
